In Great Waltham, near Chelmsford The Galvin Green Man, dating back to 1314 is an award winning destination having two rosettes, a Michelin Bib Gourmand award and is also mentioned in the Good Food Guide 2019. To the north of Harlow, The Cricketers is a 16th century inn owned and run by Trevor and Sally Oliver, parents of celebrity chef Jamie, located in Clavering.
The Queensgate Centre retail park, only a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Way, includes outlets such as B&Q, Wickes, Go Outdoors and Currys PC World as well as a Cineworld multiplex cinema.
